The challenge

Gulf geo test: test GCC geo expansion, prove market readiness. Reality: cold audience, non-localized creatives, CPL spiraled.

A campaign closed on day 18. 66 leads.

We're showing it on purpose.

The goal was testing entry into the Gulf: a coastal real-estate project in Egypt, targeted at a Gulf audience to see whether the market was ready.

The setup: ABO on a fixed daily budget. Geo set to Gulf countries. And the creative was the same Egyptian creative already running in Egypt. It started on 28 March 2026.

For comparison, the best campaign in the same portfolio delivered leads at about an eighth of the cost. This one was eight times more expensive.

The numbers explain what happened. Reaching a Gulf audience is genuinely expensive and that was expected. CTR was 2.6%, which is a good number on its own. People were clicking. But the clicks weren't converting into leads.

So the ad was capturing attention, and the page and the offer weren't convincing for that audience.

The audit found three root causes. A completely cold audience that knew neither the developer nor the project. Creative that was 100% Egyptian with no localisation: no dialect, no prices in their currency, and no answers to the Gulf buyer's actual questions about ownership, instalments from abroad, and remote management. And the geographic arithmetic itself: a CPM 3.7 times higher needs conversion 3.7 times higher just to break even, and that didn't happen.

The audit verdict was mistake rather than bleeder, and the distinction matters. It was a test with a limited budget and a clear question. The error was asking that question with the wrong tools.

What changed afterwards was a written rule for any new market entry: at least three local creatives, genuinely localised rather than translated. A test budget capped with a ceiling. And a warm audience first, site visitors and engagers from that country, before going cold.

A fast loss prevents a large one. The cost of this test bought a rule that protects every geographic entry after it. An agency that shows you only the wins is hiding the other half of the story.
